With a telling subtitle,\u00a0<a class=\"a-link-normal s-underline-text s-underline-link-text s-link-style a-text-normal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Will-REALLY-live-120-Thinking-ebook\/dp\/B09MC32LSD\/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=james+b.+ford+really+live+120&amp;qid=1643940540&amp;s=digital-text&amp;sr=1-1\"><span class=\"a-size-medium a-color-base a-text-normal\">On Turning 70 in 2021 \u2013 and Still Thinking \u201cThe Best is Yet to Come<\/span><\/a>.\u201d About a bet a bet I made with myself.<\/p>\n<p>The bet is that I might just live to 120, like Moses, with \u201ceye undimmed and vigor unabated.\u201d (<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=A0geJaEbjvxhtTcANhtpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzIEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1643970204\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fbiblehub.com%2fdeuteronomy%2f34-7.htm\/RK=0\/RS=ektDTDXpjdQg6KYD3z.4VDwNGbY-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-matarget=\"algo\" data-251=\"61fc8e1c59209\">Deuteronomy 34:7<\/a>.) To support that bet I&#8217;m eating a lot healthier, and exercising <a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=AwrJ7J5_j_xh7VQA_EJpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1643970560\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.urbandictionary.com%2fdefine.php%3fterm%3dSnowing%2520like%2520a%2520banshee\/RK=0\/RS=NcrFXVr0jxiOaP74xUY.AbYmGEM-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-matarget=\"algo\" data-0d6=\"61fc8f80215c2\">like a banshee<\/a>. That includes four 22-minute sessions a week of stair-stepping &#8211; wearing a 30-pound vest and 10 pounds of ankle weights. Then too, reliable estimates say there will be <b><i>seven times<\/i><\/b> as many people aged 100 or older. &#8220;And I plan to be one of them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>So get in on the bet. Years from now you might look back and see just how this author stayed so fit, cheerful and young at heart. Or you might end up saying, &#8220;What a dumbass. He wasn&#8217;t even CLOSE!&#8221; Either way, it should be interesting.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"a-size-medium a-color-base a-text-normal\" dir=\"auto\">Back to that Old-age book. (Like today with Covid\u2026)\u00a0Then too it may be because Hemingway gave all those exotic street names and local pubs and restaurants. Like\u00a0<strong>my<\/strong>\u00a0finding the \u201c<a id=\"yui_3_10_0_1_1605116493830_146\" class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=A0geJGpNIqxfHFMA1wFpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzIEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1605145293\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.tripadvisor.com%2fRestaurant_Review-g293983-d9454675-Reviews-BeerBazaar_Jerusalem-Jerusalem_Jerusalem_District.html\/RK=0\/RS=xu_K7YgXHwc.wBbWllTmOQ2qnNs-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-019=\"5fac224d97ef0\">BEERBAZAAR<\/a>,\u201d in Jerusalem, in May 2019. Which makes me think I should have written down way more information when I was \u201cover there.\u201d Then I could do more what Hemingway did, vivid description. But I have something Hemingway didn\u2019t have. GOOGLE MAPS!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Then too \u2013 aside from my May 2019\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=AwrJ7FwcI6xfongAgghpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzUEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1605145500\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fPilgrim\/RK=0\/RS=jB9UV_1d6qkGy9f6VGmIDPgqy28-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-80c=\"5fac231cc61cc\">pilgrimage<\/a>\u00a0to Israel \u2013 the book includes chapters on\u00a0hiking the Chilkoot Trail in 2016. (\u201cMeanest 33 miles in history,\u201d exemplified by the top photo.)\u00a0Or hiking the Camino de Santiago,\u00a0<strong><em>three times<\/em><\/strong>.* The first time was in 2017. I met my brother in Pamplona \u2013 home of Hemingway\u2019s Caf\u00e9 Iruna \u2013 and together we hiked (and biked) the 450 miles to Santiago de Compostela. (He flew into Paris and hiked over the Pyrenees, but the Chilkoot Trail had cured me of any such wishes to go hiking over mountains again so soon.)<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, the last two book-chapters are based on two posts I did in October 2020:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=9686\">That second post on the Portuguese Camino<\/a>, and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=9758\">Beer at the McDonald\u2019s in Portugal<\/a>!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The upshot is that I wrote about a lot of great adventures, but now I still have\u00a0<strong><em>more<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0to write about. Plus those I did cover I didn\u2019t do full justice to.
