18 days after he got elected &#8211; I posted\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=5584\" rel=\"bookmark\">Donald Trump \u2013 The new Johnny Yuma<\/a>?\u00a0 That post borrowed from the earlier, April 16, 2016 post:\u00a0 &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=4000\" rel=\"bookmark\">Is there a new \u2018Maverick\u2019 in town<\/a>?\u201d\u00a0 Which explains the lead photo above,\u00a0about\u00a0<a class=\"find\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/maverick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"f:url\">mavericks<\/a>\u00a0in general:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Originally the term referred to \u201cTexas lawyer\u00a0<a class=\"extiw\" title=\"w:Samuel Maverick\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Samuel_Maverick\">Samuel Maverick<\/a>, who refused to brand his cattle.\u00a0 The surname\u00a0<i>Maverick<\/i>\u00a0is of Welsh origin, from Welsh\u00a0<i>mawr-rwyce<\/i>, meaning \u2018valiant hero\u2026\u201d\u00a0 As an adjective the term applies to someone who shows \u201cindependence in thoughts or actions.\u201d \u00a0As a noun the term means someone \u201cwho does not\u00a0<a title=\"abide\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/abide\">abide<\/a>\u00a0by rules.\u201d \u00a0Either that, or someone who\u00a0\u201ccreates or uses unconventional and\/or controversial ideas or practices.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That post also asked the &#8220;musical question:\u00a0 &#8216;Can you say\u00a0<em><a class=\"find\" href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/prescience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"f:url\">prescient<\/a><\/em>?'&#8221;\u00a0<em> (That question concerned a candidate for president who &#8211; <strong>in 1998<\/strong> &#8211; showed \u201ca malignant understanding of how angry words, more than real ideas, can be deployed as weapons of power.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0And it <strong>wasn&#8217;t<\/strong> Donald Trump.*):<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[R]epetition \u2013 invoking the same foul claims over and over \u2013 can transform outrageous lies into popular understandings. \u00a0He blithely changes his facts, positions and personae because he is making it up as he goes along and assumes no one will catch up with the contradictions. \u00a0Beneath the mask of conservative idealogue is an amoral pragmatist.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>So, we&#8217;re now two years into Donald Trump&#8217;s presidency, and there are some things all Americans can agree on:\u00a0 First, that Trump\u00a0\u201ccreates or uses unconventional and\/or controversial ideas or practices.\u201d\u00a0 And second, that he &#8220;does not\u00a0<a title=\"abide\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wiktionary.org\/wiki\/abide\">abide<\/a>\u00a0by rules.\u201d\u00a0 But the question remains whether he is a &#8220;rebel,&#8221; as the old &#8220;<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrC1FNV9AVcZx8Asw9pCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTBydWNmY2MwBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwM0BHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1543922902\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fThe_Rebel_%28TV_series%29\/RK=0\/RS=hahEtPnluubjNLma0YhLwHP8MkU-\" target=\"_blank\" data-d60=\"5c05f4566c07e\">Johnny Yuma&#8221; TV series<\/a>\u00a0defined that term:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Yuma faced down intolerance, distrust, greed, confusion and revenge.\u00a0 Despite his rebellious nature, Yuma\u00a0<strong>respected<\/strong>\u00a0law and order and despised abuse of power.\u00a0 He stood up for the weak and downtrodden.\u00a0 He traveled alone and was often forced to work alone because he was the only one willing to stand up to the bad guys. and got 2,450,000 results.)<\/em>\u00a0 And it could easily be said &#8211; <em>with<\/em> a straight face &#8211; that Donald Trump\u00a0<strong><em><a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrNGMjZVQhcqxAA_bJpCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTByNXM5bzY5BGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMzBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1544078937\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.thefreedictionary.com%2fpersonify\/RK=0\/RS=MllvHUlQaAsSb1x0ThXQZd82J1g-\" target=\"_blank\" data-754=\"5c0855d9ee1d9\">personifies<\/a><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;intolerance, distrust, greed, confusion and revenge.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/thumb\/b\/b7\/Woodstock_poster.jpg\/220px-Woodstock_poster.jpg\" alt=\"Woodstock poster.jpg\" width=\"161\" height=\"220\" \/>But we were talking about &#8220;thoughts from two years ago.&#8221;\u00a0 And another tidbit from two years ago came in the November 30, 2016 post,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=5686\" rel=\"bookmark\">\u201cI dreamed I saw Don Trump last night<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I wrote of the irony of Trump being seen as a hero by the average blue-collar worker.\u00a0 Then I imagined a future folk singer &#8211; who looked to him for <a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrC1FPpWghcnn8A3M1pCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTByaWg0YW05BGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwM4BHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1544080234\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fSalvation\/RK=0\/RS=sxu6XFJBfPLcrDnAJmtOxmfPI58-\" target=\"_blank\" data-586=\"5c085aea1baff\">salvation<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Or &#8211; instead &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=3993\" rel=\"bookmark\">Is this (just)<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=3993\" rel=\"bookmark\">\u201cdeja vu all over again<\/a>?&#8221;\u00a0 <em>(Another post from 2016.\u00a0 That one noted\u00a0the &#8220;brittle, bitter climate of distrust in national politics today: \u00a0the loss of civility amid endless personal accusations, the stalemates that develop on issue after issue when both sides are unable to approach the grounds where reasonable compromise can occur.&#8221;\u00a0 And that was in 1998!)\u00a0 \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And about that name,\u00a0\u201c<a class=\"find\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/arts-and-entertainment\/wp\/2015\/09\/01\/why-does-everyone-call-donald-trump-the-donald-its-an-interesting-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"f:url\">the Donald<\/a>.&#8221;\u00a0 It turns out it got started by\u00a0<a id=\"yui_3_10_0_1_1544406950261_481\" class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrNGMilxw1cW3cAcVhpCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTByOHZyb21tBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1544435749\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fIvana_Trump\/RK=0\/RS=RMm_RXtlrrOW64ZhsWfwIynj5B8-\" target=\"_blank\" data-a4a=\"5c0dc7a5a8272\">Ivana Trump<\/a>&#8216;s &#8220;broken English,&#8221; then got a boost &#8211; from all people &#8211; a writer at <a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrNIUrpxw1co3cAFOFpCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTBydWNmY2MwBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwM0BHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1544435818\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fThe_Washington_Post\/RK=0\/RS=LxvVaaFPjOMdg6vrVLrakGi_Q7M-\" target=\"_blank\" data-44e=\"5c0dc7ea05a27\">The Washington Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I noted that nickname in a May 12, 2017 post:\u00a0 &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=5410\" rel=\"bookmark\">He\u2019ll be impeached within two years<\/a>:&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>If Trump turns out to be as bad as people expect \u2013 based on how he presented himself, both in his campaigns and in office \u2013 fully 75% of the country could be strongly against him by the time of the mid-term elections in 2018. \u00a0Which could turn out to be a single-issue race.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/commons\/thumb\/1\/1a\/Seal_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives.svg\/170px-Seal_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives.svg.png\" alt=\"Seal of the U.S. House of Representatives\" \/>The prediction &#8211; based on analysis by a number of pundits &#8211; hasn&#8217;t yet come to pass.\u00a0 Though in some respects the 2018 mid-term elections <strong><em>were<\/em><\/strong> a single-issue race, at least for the\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrC0SnDyw1ceH8AZB1pCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTBybGY3bmpvBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMyBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1544436804\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fUnited_States_House_of_Representatives\/RK=0\/RS=iaysWBp1zOb5cXWyay8pgnkFr40-\" target=\"_blank\" data-ff2=\"5c0dcbc47eb4a\">House<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, consider the post,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=5510\" rel=\"bookmark\">Trump is like a box of chocolates<\/a>,\u201d from November 13, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>It first quoted Professor Allan Lichtman, who predicted in September 2016 that Trump would win the election.\u00a0 But he went on to say Trump would be impeached, but\u00a0<strong><em>not<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0by Democrats.\u00a0\u00a0The Republicans \u2013 he said \u2013 would much rather have Mike Pence as president, as \u201cfar easier to control.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>They don\u2019t want Trump as president, because they can\u2019t control him.\u00a0 He\u2019s unpredictable. They\u2019d love to have [Mike] Pence \u2013 an absolutely down-the-line, conservative, controllable<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Republican\u2026 \u00a0\u201cPence in the White House would put a more trusted establishment Republican in the job.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That hasn&#8217;t come to pass either, but that post went on to ask:\u00a0 &#8220;In light of Donald Trump\u2019s\u00a0<a class=\"find\" href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=Chameleon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"f:url\">chameleon<\/a>-like\u00a0shifting\u00a0<a class=\"find\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Political_positions_of_Donald_Trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"f:url\">political positions<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 especially since last Tuesday \u2013 will he eventually be seen as an &#8216;effective elected official,&#8217; or a\u00a0<span class=\"toctext\"><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/P._T._Barnum#Funhouse_showman\">funhouse showman<\/a>?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The jury&#8217;s still out on that one&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But the part I remember was the &#8220;Gump-like&#8221;
