The tentative title is &#8220;<em>Turning 70 in 2021 &#8211; and <strong>still <\/strong>thinking the best is yet to come<\/em>.&#8221; One chapter will be &#8220;On the music of my life,&#8221; and how important it&#8217;s been to me.\u00a0One chapter will be \u201cOn the music of my life,\u201d and how important it\u2019s been to me. (Like making those long\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=AwrJ7J7D5WhgA8QAiZhpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617516099\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fCamino_de_Santiago\/RK=0\/RS=fuBn5YuCHBTtzbn38XYtRy7zRZk-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-f6d=\"6068e5c3a8ff4\">Camino<\/a>\u00a0hikes \u2013 illustrated at left \u2013\u00a0more enjoyable, as well as those endless hours of canoe-paddling, say on the \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=7606\" rel=\"bookmark\">Rideau Canal Adventure<\/a>?\u201d)\u00a0But that project is turning out to be more complicated than I thought. <strong><em>And<\/em><\/strong> it&#8217;s been awhile since I last posted. (March 20, and this is April 4, Easter Sunday.)<\/p>\n<p>So in the meantime, I&#8217;ll paste together this quick review from last March, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>It seems I only did two posts last March:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8688\" rel=\"bookmark\">On \u201cMad Men\u201d \u2013 Revisited<\/a>, March 11. 2020, and \u2013 on March 26, 2020 \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8984\" rel=\"bookmark\">Meditations on \u201cthe new plague<\/a>.\u201d But to get back to the <strong><em>beginning<\/em><\/strong> of that &#8220;new plague,&#8221; I need to revisit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=9167\" rel=\"bookmark\">On Week 8 of the Coronavirus shut-down<\/a>, from May 11, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>There I explained that, to me, the pandemic hit full swing \u2013 &#8220;the \u2018stuff\u2019 hit the fan\u201d \u2013 on Thursday, March 12, 2020. That was the day the ACC basketball tournament got cancelled. Then the whole 2020\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=A0geKeTG52hgBeYA9qJpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzIEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617516614\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fNCAA_March_Madness_series\/RK=0\/RS=EsSCbsvX2pWom6jzoXWElrPfBfU-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-5df=\"6068e7c6c95fa\">college basketball &#8220;March Madness<\/a>&#8221; got called off, along with the college<strong><em> baseball<\/em><\/strong> season. And the NBA, NHL and other major pro sport seasons all cancelled as well. (Though\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=AwrE19R16Ghg9Q4AkR9pCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617516789\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2f2020_Major_League_Baseball_season\/RK=0\/RS=uWQF11FXgSuv0Kd.90lHBlUjoxw-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-001=\"6068e875ee455\">Major League Baseball<\/a>\u00a0did have a shortened season &#8211; 60 games &#8211; starting July 23, 2020.)<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So<strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>my\u00a0definition of the \u201c<strong><em>First<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Full Week of the Covid-19 Pandemic\u201d has it starting Sunday, March 15 and ending Saturday, March 21.\u00a0<em>(Meaning we\u2019re actually starting the ninth full week of the pandemic.)\u00a0<\/em>And that pandemic shows no signs of abating, which means we need to continue adjusting to a \u201c<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrJ6yg3CbheVKUAJw5pCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTBybGY3bmpvBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMyBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1589148087\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fidioms.thefreedictionary.com%2fnew%2bnormal\/RK=0\/RS=iYWePhOvyGhjn57cTnPJ_mCuCzU-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-53b=\"5eb809378a1ee\">New normal<\/a>&#8230;\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On that note of &#8220;weeks of Covid,&#8221; this Easter Sunday &#8211; April 4, 2021 &#8211; will mark the start of the <strong><em>56th<\/em><\/strong> full week of the\u00a0<a id=\"yui_3_10_0_1_1617489007763_598\" class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=A0geKYpu7Ghgi0EA8A9pCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzIEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617517807\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fCOVID-19_pandemic\/RK=0\/RS=A07bvpfa2Qk515c8ZEXTkp8F0P0-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-13a=\"6068ec6f6eaca\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>.* (That&#8217;s 14 full months.)<\/p>\n<p>So now, back to\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8688\" rel=\"bookmark\">Mad Men\u201d \u2013 Revisited<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8984\" rel=\"bookmark\">Meditations on \u201cthe new plague<\/a>,&#8221; from March 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Note that I posted\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8688\" rel=\"bookmark\">Mad Men<\/a>&#8221; on March 11, 2020. The day<strong><em>\u00a0before<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0&#8220;the pandemic hit full swing,&#8221; according to my reckoning above. (The day before &#8220;the &#8216;stuff\u2019 hit the fan.&#8221;) So in a way, looking back was kind of like the night before Kennedy was assassinated. My family &#8211; I was 12 in 1963 &#8211; watched a TV special the night before. It showed\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=AwrEze3VHmlg0ksANEJpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617530710\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fWally_Cleaver\/RK=0\/RS=x10zvCT294OHp4HdMMY7YPlbC9w-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-466=\"60691ed6019ee\">Wally Cleaver<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Tony Dow as the older brother in\u00a0<a title=\"Leave It to Beaver\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Leave_It_to_Beaver\">Leave It to Beaver<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; getting a girl pregnant. <strong><em>That<\/em> <\/strong>was quite a shock, standing alone.*<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/image.tmdb.org\/t\/p\/original\/3wTUD2412TBuud21olLLufYFHXi.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"180\" \/>Then came that afternoon of\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=AwrE19dYH2lgjSIA2EdpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617530841\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fAssassination_of_John_F._Kennedy\/RK=0\/RS=qpuTBScqRegxHdpnvQE7Ons2U1w-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-841=\"60691f592c7b8\">November 22, 1963<\/a>. Which brings up the idea of &#8220;knowing what&#8217;s going to happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Suppose you could go back to that morning of November 22, 1963, and know what was going to happen that afternoon? But you couldn&#8217;t change it, and you would have to relive the pain you felt that afternoon &#8211; and the following long weekend &#8211; all over again?<\/p>\n<p>Strangely enough, doing that \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8688\" rel=\"bookmark\">Mad Men<\/a>&#8221; post was &#8211; to me &#8211; similar to being able to see into the future&#8230; And how that &#8220;gift&#8221; might not be such a great thing to have. (I knew the &#8220;Mad Men&#8221; future because I watched the episodes out of order.)\u00a0 For example, knowing that &#8220;the lovely &#8216;Midge'&#8221; &#8211; shown above right &#8211; would end up turning into a skinny, emaciated heroin addict.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a tantalizing topic I may wish to explore at length in a future post. In the meantime, we&#8217;ll\u00a0 move on to the next post from March 2020, <strong><em>ATC&#8217;S&#8217;HTF<\/em><\/strong>. (After the &#8220;Covid &#8216;stuff&#8217; Hit The Fan.&#8221;)<\/p>\n<p>As noted,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8984\" rel=\"bookmark\">Meditations on \u201cthe new plague<\/a>\u201d came some two weeks after \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8688\" rel=\"bookmark\">Mad Men<\/a>:&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Last March 12 [the day after\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/georgiawasp.com\/?p=8688\" rel=\"bookmark\">Mad Men<\/a>\u201d], I went to the local library and checked out a copy of\u00a0<strong><em><a id=\"yui_3_10_0_1_1584633648892_292\" class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrJ6ycwl3NedjgAVhJpCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTByOHZyb21tBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1584662449\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fThe_Plague\/RK=0\/RS=7OoVval9JII1kdZ08V4ZxSzxsU8-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-dd2=\"5e739731138c0\">The Plague<\/a>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>by\u00a0<a title=\"Albert Camus\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Albert_Camus\">Albert Camus<\/a>.\u00a0<em>(In light our new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=A0geKLseaXVeUD4AyAppCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTBybGY3bmpvBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMyBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1584781727\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2f2019%25E2%2580%259320_Wuhan_coronavirus_outbreak\/RK=0\/RS=MyiQU7jvpSSe6w18wyHw97918do-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coronavirus pandemic<\/a>.)<\/em>\u00a0 Which book, incidentally, I cannot now return, because that library and all others in the area are closed&#8230; At the same time I checked out a copy of\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=A0geK.BVmHNeJ0gAmQFpCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTByaWg0YW05BGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwM4BHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1584662741\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.publishersweekly.com%2f978-0-670-03496-3\/RK=0\/RS=TfriVVSJy1ItB6bT8X8IRTohnBo-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-64b=\"5e7398559babf\">What Jesus Meant<\/a>, by\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=A0geK.BVmHNeJ0gAmwFpCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTBzdWd2cWI5BGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxMAR2dGlkAwRzZWMDc3I-\/RV=2\/RE=1584662741\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fGarry_Wills\/RK=0\/RS=bWWmXAG8b8x5EjPQxubdIcQXtoE-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-64b=\"5e7398559be7e\">Garry Wills<\/a>, for a bit more\u00a0<strong><em>uplifting<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>reading. And I also started researching more on this \u201cplague\u201d business.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That post noted\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=AwrEwhG5lnNeXwYAfxlpCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTByaWg0YW05BGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwM4BHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1584662329\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.verywellhealth.com%2fdifference-between-epidemic-and-pandemic-2615168\/RK=0\/RS=junv1Ga9rc32SO9YGMxPUO0W4DU-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-c3f=\"5e7396b9f19e7\">the difference between epidemic and a pandemic<\/a>, and adjusting to the <a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=A0geK.R5I2pgDFkAXQppCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzIEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617597433\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.hopkinsmedicine.org%2fhealth%2fconditions-and-diseases%2fcoronavirus%2fcoronavirus-new-normal\/RK=0\/RS=s3khTrXOEgsDzx5jmxuGreElk_w-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-5f8=\"606a2379f3c6b\">new normal<\/a>,<strong><em> kind of<\/em><\/strong>: &#8220;No more dine-in lunches, or dinners, or stopping by a local bar for a beer or two before Wednesday-night choir practice. And no more choir practice, or church on Sunday either for that matter.&#8221; And I found a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=A2KLfSJRyXZe69kAnU5pCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTByMDgyYjJiBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMyBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzYw--\/RV=2\/RE=1584871890\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.sltrib.com%2fopinion%2fcommentary%2f2020%2f03%2f20%2falain-de-botton-plague%2f\/RK=0\/RS=drddUBcv.YQN2rW0JndOzTivzj8-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">review of \u201cThe Plague<\/a>\u201d which gave some perspective:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>Being alive always was and will always remain an emergency; it is truly an inescapable \u201cunderlying condition\u2026\u201d This is what Camus meant when he talked about the \u201cabsurdity\u201d of life. Recognizing this absurdity should lead us not to despair but to a tragicomic redemption, a softening of the heart, a turning away from judgment and moralizing to joy and gratitude.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>From that I gleaned a lesson &#8211; back in March 2020 &#8211; that the &#8220;current pestilence\u00a0<strong><em>might\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>lead&#8221; to a change in our national life, &#8220;and especially our national political life. That is, &#8220;the present &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/r.search.aol.com\/_ylt=A0geKLseaXVeUD4AyAppCWVH;_ylu=X3oDMTBybGY3bmpvBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMyBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--\/RV=2\/RE=1584781727\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2f2019%25E2%2580%259320_Wuhan_coronavirus_outbreak\/RK=0\/RS=MyiQU7jvpSSe6w18wyHw97918do-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Coronavirus<\/a>&#8216;\u00a0<strong><em>might<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0lead to a general and sweeping American &#8216;softening of the heart.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I suppose the\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=A0geKI9PEWpguRkAdTJpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzEEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617592783\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fidioms.thefreedictionary.com%2fjury%2bis%2bstill%2bout\/RK=0\/RS=Xr8IeouhCVJcxjU5Q99qaGU.MtM-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-ad3=\"606a114fcfa37\">jury is still out<\/a>\u00a0on that question&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, there<strong><em> are<\/em> <\/strong>now some places where you can have a sit-down, dine-in lunch, or dinner. There are some bars open for business, but no more visits before Wednesday night choir practice. (No more choir.) On the other hand, just today my local\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=AwrE1995JWpgP9cAsgtpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzIEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617597946\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fen.wikipedia.org%2fwiki%2fEpiscopal_Church_%28United_States%29\/RK=0\/RS=BgseSyVrQ6NEGqN4qZawUbrFhOQ-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-a55=\"606a257a65bee\">Episcopal Church<\/a>\u00a0opened up for a 10:00 a.m. in-person service, and about 90 people showed up. (While some other denominations have been open for crowds a long while, &#8220;my&#8221; church has taken a more cautious approach. See\u00a0<a class=\" ac-algo fz-l ac-21th lh-24\" href=\"https:\/\/search.aol.com\/click\/_ylt=A0geJaHRJWpgD6sAq2VpCWVH;_ylu=Y29sbwNiZjEEcG9zAzMEdnRpZAMEc2VjA3Ny\/RV=2\/RE=1617598034\/RO=10\/RU=https%3a%2f%2fwww.episcopalnewsservice.org%2f2021%2f04%2f01%2fepiscopal-churches-offer-a-mix-of-in-person-and-online-worship-options-for-holy-week-easter%2f\/RK=0\/RS=vFAoJ6CPsDI3Tbwo4MKkRVcsEds-\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-baa=\"606a25d27306e\">Episcopal churches offer a mix of in-person and online worship options<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">One other bit of good news?
